On the occasion of the annual meeting of the Spanish Society of Glaucoma 2026 in Toledo about two weeks ago, Dr. Lucia Rial Álvarez, from the Vissum Oftalmología Eye Clinic in Alicante, presented the results of non-invasive optic nerve stimulation with Eyetronic.
Data from 60 patients - 18 patients treated in A Coruña at the Gutiérrez Amoros Vista center (by Dr. Carlos Gutiérrez Amorós) and 42 patients from the Vissum Eye Center in Alicante - were presented.
69% of all treated eyes showed stable or improved visual fields at 3 months follow-up. Of the 24 patients with 9-month follow-up, an even higher clinical benefit was observed, with 75% showing stable or improved visual fields.
On the occasion of the Glaucoma 360 New Horizons Forum in San Francisco on January 30, Prof. Adrian Smedowski MD, PhD, FEBO, Medical University of Silesia, Katowice, Poland, shared also 3-month follow-up data from 50 patients as part of the panel „Breaking Barriers in Glaucoma: Neuroprotection & Vision Restoration“.
Prof. Smedowski presented the improvements of this patient group in several key parameters, including visual field, contrast and acuity, after having been treated with EYETRONIC at his Glaucomed Clinic in Bytom.

For the first time, clinical experience gathered in the United States with EYETRONIC non-invasive optic nerve stimulation was presented earlier this year.
On January 30, the Glaucoma Research Foundation, the largest philanthropic glaucoma organization, gathered world-leading experts at its annual Glaucoma 360 New Horizons Forum in San Francisco. Under the title „Breaking Barriers in Glaucoma: Neuroprotection & Vision Restoration“ latest developments in treating glaucoma were presented.
The panel was moderated by Prof. Jeffrey Goldberg, Stanford University and Dr. Sunita Radhakrishnan from the Glaucoma Center of San Francisco (GCSF, Executive Director: Dr. Andrew Iwach) shared the experiences with EYETRONIC® from the trials conducted at the GCSF and at Stanford University.

In August 2024 a paper by Granata et al. was published which focusses on electrical stimulation in ophthalmology.
The title is: "Transorbital Alternating Current Stimulation in Glaucoma: State of the Art from Neurophysiological Bases to Clinical Practice".
This review article emphasizes the importance of looking at optic nerve stimulation as a therapy for neuropathic conditions, like glaucoma.
